Leave a Legacy
Help destroy landmines and unexploded bombs before they destroy lives, with a gift in your Will.
Conflicts devastate lives, 80% of casualties from landmines and unexploded bombs in 2025 were civilians. This is not right and it is not fair. MAG take action from the start of a conflict, during a conflict and stay for decades until people are safe.
The landscape of landmines
- According to UN estimates, over 120 million landmines are in 71 countries and between 2,000,000 to 5,000,000 are planted each year.
- The UN estimates over 1 million people have died from landmines.
- Over 80% of people killed or injured by landmines and unexploded bombs are civilians. Over half of these are children.
Your Will can protect the lives of those you love and those children and adults whose future is made safe by our work clearing landmines, destroying bombs and educating communities.
Thanks to our supporters giving donations and gifts in Wills we have already reached more than 20 million women, girls, boys and men in 70 countries. Thank you. But as you can see, we have a long way to go. With your sustained help through your gift in your Will, we will get there.
What are your dreams for those following in your footsteps?
When you plan who will benefit from your inheritance, your loved ones are your focus. At MAG we understand this.
MAG wants to get to every landmine before a child does, which means that these families futures are also secured.
When we started, almost 40 years ago, it is estimated there were around a maximum of 50 armed conflicts.
Currently there are 110 conflicts worldwide - the highest since World War 2. It takes minutes to plant landmines and years to clear them. This dangerous, painstaking work is why a gift in your Will is so important.
We can’t stop wars, but we can stop people being killed by unexploded bombs and landmines. No one knows what the future holds, but with your support, we will stand strong for generations to come.

Which type of legacy gift is best for you?

Intestacy versus testacy. It’s a no brainer.
If you die without a Will (intestate), your estate is distributed according to the rules of intestacy which dictate who inherits your money, property, and possessions based on legal relationships and priority, not personal wishes. Unmarried partners and stepchildren may receive nothing, and the process can become complex.
Imagine if this was to happen and the effect on those closest to you.
Your Will is a legal love letter which proves your ambitions to secure lives in the future for family friends and charities such as MAG.
The most usual legacy gifts are:
- A percentage gift, of 1% to 100% of what you are worth. Even 1% to MAG, so those closest to you inherit 99%, will be life saving
- A cash sum (which does not keep up with inflation)
- One which we receive after the second death in a marriage/partnership -
Changing your Will

If you have a Will and want to change it, the easiest way can be through a Letter of Wishes. This letter can be brilliant for many people who are not sure how much money they will need, especially in their later life. You can also express your wishes on whether you want to be buried or cremated and whether you would prefer gifts to a charity, instead of flowers, at your funeral and appoint guardians for your children.
