The total starting package for this position is £63,156 GBP per annum (approx. $82,000 USD) per annum including basic salary and all relevant allowances.


About the Programme

MAG started conducting dedicated Physical Security and Stockpile Management (PSSM) activities in Peru in October 2017 where it is currently implementing a Conventional Weapons Destruction Programme funded by the US Department of State and additional capacity building initiatives supported by the US Department of Defence.

To date, thanks to US Government funding, MAG has assessed several ammunition storage facilities all-over Peru and has safely destroyed over 1,000 US tons of obsolete or surplus munitions and Small Arms Ammunition (SAA), including man pads and anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) belonging to the Peruvian Army, MAG’s strategic-partner. MAG has since expanded to work with additional national partners and is continuing to expand our operational footprint across the country, responding to requests for support.

About the role

Our Technical Field Managers are the core of our work and actively manage and lead our teams of staff to safely implement our life saving Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) projects.

The aim of the post will be to implement all aspects of Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM) and related tasks in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and as directed by the Technical Operations Manager (TOM). This will include performing large scale EOD operations across the country, delivery of training to stakeholders, rehabilitation and/or construction of new facilities and monitoring of all staff carrying out technical operations to ensure safe practices and in order to build a local capacity for WAM activities. In addition, you will support the Technical Operations Manager (TOM) in ensuring overall safe execution of all MAG technical activities within the country.

About you

The successful candidate must have experience of working in mine clearance/EOD/SALW operations in developing countries that are contaminated by remnants of conflict. You must be IMAS EOD 3 + qualified and have substantial previous experience as an EOD operator and demonstrable experience of conducting logistical demolitions and have previous experience of the working with MOSAICs and IATGs. You will  be experienced in leading, motivating and managing a diverse team of people, and in mentoring and coaching others. You will also have experience of  conducting formal or informal training and the transfer of appropriate skills to others. The ability to work autonomously and develop, review and comply with security and technical Standard Operating Procedures is essential. Technical knowledge of two or more of these technical skills areas is essential: EO/SALW/unexploded ordnance, EOD and mine clearance techniques, including new developments.  

The postholder will be innovative, proactive, and committed to high quality standards and continually improving effectiveness and efficiency. You will be able to establish and develop effective working relationships at all levels internally and externally and to represent and promote MAG. In addition, you will possess excellent communication, interpersonal, diplomacy and organisation skills, with the ability to plan and coordinate activities and projects. Experience of working independently for extended periods of time in ‘stand-alone’ environments with minimal supervision is required.

Fluency in English is required, Spanish skills would be highly beneficial.
