Technical Field Manager, Syria Response

The starting salary package for this position is £68,656 GBP / approx. $86,960 USD per annum including all allowances.

About the role

Our Technical Field Managers are the core of our work and actively manage and lead our teams of locally recruited staff to safely implement our life saving mine clearance and EOD projects. You must be willing to lead from the front, responsible for the day-to-day management of our technical teams and being involved in all aspects of MAG’s lifesaving work, including administration, team cashbooks, procurement of equipment, representation of MAG to local communities and Government, operational planning and reporting. Capacity building and people management is a core area of this role. Roles are in remote areas, working in challenging contexts away from home comforts, but the life-saving impact the work has on local communities is very real, and rewarding. This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in MAG’s life-saving work on a day-to-day basis.

About you

You must be qualified to IMAS EOD 3, preferably with experience of working within the HMA sector and have extensive experience of managing efficient conventional minefield clearance operations, ideally in an integrated clearance (manual and mechanical) setting with experience of using machines in ground preparation for demining. It would be beneficial to be qualified (EOD3+) or experienced in IEDD or High Risk Search operations, through working for a similar organisation in a similar region, either in the humanitarian, commercial sector or military/civil service sectors.

You will need excellent diplomacy and liaison skills to effectively build relationships with our national partners and authorities. You must have excellent people management skills with a proven track record of leading, motivating, and managing a diverse team of people. You will also have the ability to contribute technical knowledge and clearance targets in proposals and reports and demonstrate a proven track record of delivering training and capacity building of locally recruited staff. Fluent written and spoken English language skills are essential. You must be willing to take on the challenges of working in the developing world and working in a flexible and committed team, to save lives in communities that need it most. Women are encouraged to apply.
