MAG is delighted to announce the appointment of Judith Gough to its Board of Trustees. The Board has appointed Judith as MAG's Defence and Security Trustee Focal Point.
Judith is a Partner at PA Consulting in their Defence and Security practice, and an Associate Fellow at Chatham House. She is an experienced diplomat, having served as the United Kingdom's Ambassador to Sweden, Ukraine, and Georgia, as well as being posted to the Republic of Korea. She has significant experience across defence and security - in particular, European security and arms control - and has previously worked on demining in the Falkland Islands, Georgia, and Ukraine and on the UK’s Cluster Munitions (Prohibitions) Bill.
Julia Palca, Chair of MAG’s Board of Trustees, said: “As Trustees, we are committed to supporting MAG’s life-saving work and provide, to the best of our ability, advice and counsel to help the organisation deliver on its commitments with continued excellence and the highest level of professionalism. That is why I am particularly delighted to welcome Judith to MAG’s Board. We are confident she will make a meaningful impact on our work, thanks to her authoritative insight into the complex intersection of humanitarian action and international security."
Darren Cormack, MAG's Chief Executive, added: “Judith brings with her a wealth of expertise and experience that directly aligns with MAG’s strategic goals and objectives, as we seek to navigate a turbulent geopolitical environment and an increasingly volatile world. We know she will provide a vital contribution to MAG’s wider efforts to help prevent conflict and address its devastating consequences over generations. We are truly grateful to her for her willingness to join MAG in its mission.
Judith Gough said: “I have seen first-hand the terrible consequences of landmines and unexploded ordnance. I am proud to have been involved in demining work in the past and am delighted to have an opportunity to contribute to MAG’s crucial work. MAG makes an extraordinary and positive difference to communities affected by conflict around the world. It is an organisation of dedicated and highly talented people, working to transform the lives of those who have suffered the consequences of war.”
