No More Cluster Bombs

No More Cluster Bombs

Casualties from cluster bombs are now at the highest they’ve been since 2010.

Shockingly 95% of those killed or injured were civilians and a devastating 71% children.

The power of cluster bombs is not diminished with time. Many cluster bombs fail to detonate on impact, leaving them buried in soil, lodged in walls and stuck in trees waiting to be found. When they do explode, the casing breaks into sharp fragments - causing death and injury.

More has to be done to prevent this indiscriminate threat to the lives of women, girls, boys and men.

No one should live in fear of cluster bombs, add your name if you agree.

When cluster bombs are dropped, they scatter over a large area, meaning that they are much more of a threat to ordinary people, children and civilian areas. This is particularly dangerous when they are dropped in densely populated areas like towns, villages, and cities, causing indiscriminate harm and destruction.

Because of their size and shape, cluster bombs can look like toys.

The natural curiosity of children puts them at risk of great harm while playing or simply walking home.

Unexploded cluster bombs remain as much a threat to life as the day they were dropped. The only way to free people from danger is to safely detonate the bombs, one by one.

MAG needs to find every cluster bomb before someone’s child, father, or mother does. Add your name if you agree.

All of these figures come from the latest Cluster Munition Monitor.

MAG colleague, Ninh, works as a Team Leader in Vietnam: "When I was six, my 12-year-old brother was killed by a cluster bomb he found on his way home from school. Whenever I find and safely remove explosive items at work, my pain is eased. I am committed to doing all I can to ensure that no one else suffers the same tragedy as my family.

“I have dedicated my life to this mission, and I know my brother would be proud of what I'm doing."

More has to be done to prevent this indiscriminate threat on the lives of women, girls, boys and men. The only way to do this is to safely detonate the bombs, one by one.
